Celebració del dia del llibre i la rosa –
Dilluns 26 d’abril 2010 a les 3pm
Estimats socis i sòcies,
Ja és abril a Catalunya i frisen perquè comenci el bon temps. Els padrins compren la mona als fillols i els xiringuitos de platja comencen la temporada. A Melbourne però, el sol cada dia s’amaga més aviat, el termòmetre baixa, i aviat haurem de treure roba d’abric dels armaris. Tot i les diferències evidents, tant a Melbourne com a Catalunya celebrem el Sant Jordi.
I ara... Sant Jordi! Sí, ja és abril i per tant època de celebrar una de les festes més entranyables del calendari. Com cada any al Casal farem una celebració per aglutinar petits i grans. Enguany la celebració serà el dilluns dia 26 d’abril a les 3 de la tarda a la Ross House. La vetllada comptarà amb una breu lectura pel grans, narració de la llegenda pels mes menuts i concurs de dibuix amb premis, i com no,amb una mica de piscolabis i alguna cosa per fer-ho baixar tot. Una celebració que no us podeu perdre! Us hi esperem a tots.
Per acabar un fragment del poema ‘La Pell del Brau’ de Salvador Espriu:
A vegades és necessari i forçós
que un home mori per un poble,
però mai no ha de morir tot un poble
per un home sol:

Fes que siguin segurs els ponts del diàleg

Celebrating the day of books and roses -

Dear members of the Casal,
Now it’s Abril, Catalonia is getting impatient for warmer weather to come, godparents buy Easter cakes for their godchildren, and the seaside stalls start to appear. Whereas in Melbourne the days are getting shorter and cooler (apart from that wonderful weather over Easter), and soon we’ll be reaching for our overcoats. But for all these obvious differences, we enjoy celebrating the Day of Sant Jordi here as well.
And now for St Jordi! Yes, because it’s already April, it’s time to celebrate one of the most enjoyable festivals in the calendar. As usual, we aim to organise an event that will be enjoyable for young and old. This year the celebration will be held on Monday April 26 at 3 pm at Ross House. The afternoon will include, for the young ones, a reading of the legend of St Jordi and a drawing competition with prizes. And for all of us: a delicious snack and something to wash it down with. In short, an event you won’t want to miss! We look forward to seeing you.
